James Gilmour

James is a professional drummer, hand percussionist and educator from Glasgow. He is a drum kit instructor in seven East Dunbartonshire primary schools and Belmont House School in Newton Mearns. James performs extensively on the Scottish music scene and is the drummer in X-Factor star Nicholas McDonald’s band. James also plays/has played with The Frazer Mitchell Trio, The Lynsey Dolan Band and Raintown among others and has performed at festivals such as TRNSMT. James has written drum kit curriculums for music schools and enjoys teaching all drumming styles from rock to jazz and everything in between. His specialist areas are hand technique and traditional grip.
